As part of the PIONEER Alliance, the 4th edition of the Hackathon, dedicated to the decarbonization of freight transport and logistics, had the participation of students from four universities - Gustave Eiffel University (France), the University of Bologna (Italy), Iscte - University Institute of Lisbon (Portugal) and the IUAV University of Venice (Italy).
The meeting happens during four days at the end of 2025 March at the Ministry of Energy Transition in Paris, where 36 students were able to develop innovative projects.
The 1st place team included an Iscte student, Jacob Luke Griles, with the project ECOLOOP. That project aims to change consumer habits towards greater sustainability in e-commerce and the jury appreciated the team's holistic approach, which gives consumers an important role in making supply chains more sustainable.
Another participant in the competition was Maria Beatriz Ramos Filipe, also student at Iscte, who emphasized the fact that the Hackathon required developing transversal skills such as communication and teamwork. The project she took part in, CARGOFIT, aims to bring together demand and supply for retrofitting cargo ships in a highly fragmented market that suffers from a lack of access to solution providers.
