At its core, this programme aims to promote learning oriented towards the practice of Research and Development (R&D), supporting and contributing to students’ acquisition of integrated research skills. This learning happens in an environment of intensive knowledge production in which collaborative projects are developed on national and international scales with other higher education institutions, Associate Laboratories and other public research units, including bodies within Public Administration that pursue R&D projects and private non-profit institutions that have R&D as one of their main goals. A primary component of this programme is training in social research methods; to this end, the study plan combines curricular units in qualitative methods and quantitative methods, strengthening students’ apprehension and mastery of mixed methods along with other techniques of a more theoretical character that provide further capacity for the practice of knowledge-making.
Applications for Iscte Merit Scholarships will be accepted from PhD students at the School of Sociology and Public Policy. Information on the application process will be made available shortly. The monthly amount of the grant is equal to the reference value for FCT Doctoral Grants, plus an exemption from tuition fees. Students must be enrolled full-time and dedicated exclusively to their studies.
