A presente dissertação explora o impacto que os Business Angels (BAs) têm no desenvolvimento de start-ups, analisando como esses investidores influenciam o crescimento dessas empresas. Os BAs fornecem capital e apoio às start-ups, promovendo mentoria ativa e conectando-as às suas redes de contactos, o que contribui para o desenvolvimento e sucesso das mesmas. Este estudo investiga como o envolvimento ativo e a experiência dos BAs podem influenciar positivamente o desenvolvimento das start-ups, principalmente nas suas fases iniciais, pre-seed e seed. A pesquisa adota uma abordagem qualitativa e foi conduzida através de 14 entrevistas semi-estruturadas, onde foram entrevistados 9 BAs e 5 empreendedores, com o objetivo de colher dados e obter uma visão mais abrangente sobre o papel desempenhado pelos BAs nas start-ups e como os mesmos influenciam determinados fatores-chave que impactam o desenvolvimento das start-ups.

This dissertation explores the impact that Business Angels (BAs) have on the development of start-ups, analyzing how these investors influence the growth of these companies. BAs provide capital and support to start-ups, providing mentoring and connecting them to their networks, which contributes to their development and success. This study investigates how the active involvement and experience of BAs can positively influence the development of start-ups, especially in their early, pre-seed and seed phases. The research adopts a qualitative approach and was conducted through 14 semi-structured interviews, where 9 BAs and 5 entrepreneurs were interviewed, with the aim of gathering data and obtaining a more comprehensive view of the role played by BAs in start-ups and how they influence certain key factors that impact the development of start-ups.
