Este estudo investiga como o etnocentrismo ocidental influencia a percepção de vitimização das mulheres muçulmanas e impacta a eficácia da ajuda humanitária internacional. O interesse pelo tema surgiu de observações realizadas na Turquia, onde percebi que, no contexto humanitário pós-11 de setembro, as mulheres muçulmanas são frequentemente retratadas como necessitando ser “salvas” de sua própria cultura. Baseando-se em teorias como o Orientalismo de Edward Said e críticas do feminismo transnacional, a pesquisa analisa como estereótipos ocidentais perpetuam a islamofobia e moldam políticas excludentes. O estudo também buscou, apesar dos muitos obstáculos, trazer a voz das mulheres muçulmanas, permitindo que expressassem suas perspectivas e desafiassem as narrativas dominantes. Finalmente, a pesquisa pretende contribuir para debates sobre direitos humanos e feminismo, propondo uma abordagem mais inclusiva e culturalmente sensível na ajuda humanitária.

This study explores how Western ethnocentrism influences the perception of Muslim women's victimization and impacts the effectiveness of international humanitarian aid. Interest in the topic arose from observations in Turkey, where I noticed that, in the post-9/11 humanitarian context, Muslim women are often depicted as needing to be “saved” from their own culture. Drawing on theories such as Edward Said's Orientalism and critiques from transnational feminism, the research examines how Western stereotypes perpetuate Islamophobia and shape exclusionary policies. The study also attempted, despite many obstacles, to bring the voices of Muslim women to the forefront, allowing them to express their perspectives and challenge dominant narratives. Ultimately, this research aims to contribute to human rights and feminist debates, proposing a more inclusive and culturally sensitive approach to humanitarian aid.
