The following text is the Business Management Master dissertation. It aims to present a
business plan to sustainable farm inland the Litopenaeus vannamei shrimp at Madeira Island.
The company to be created is Oceanum founded by the author at the same archipelago. The
business plan describes the strategic approach, the market research, and the financial analysis
necessary to start the project. The literature revision supports the decision for the best strategy
to be implemented and defines the necessary analysis to be conducted to answer critical
business viability questions. The chosen analyses are presented in logical order and
summarized along the text. Market analysis presents PESTEL framework, customer analysis
and main competitors’ analysis. The Business Analysis presents the internal analysis using the
VRIO matrix and the external analysis using Porter´s Five Forces framework, resuming them
at the SWOT matrix. The Strategy Analysis summarizes the business unit strategies and
possible corporate strategies defined for Oceanum. The chosen strategies, supported by the
previous analysis are presented in a plan at the Strategy Implementation section, which defines
the marketing mix and the qualitative resources necessary to execute the project. The following
section presents the project`s quantitative analysis proving its monetary financial viability.
Therefore, it is possible to conclude that farming shrimp at Madeira Island proved itself not
only viable but also profitable.
