O presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar de que forma a arte se pode relacionar com as empresas e de que forma se pode assumir como um fator de criação de valor para estas. A necessidade de abordar este tema de acordo com a perceção da gestão resulta, em parte, do facto de este ser ainda um assunto pouco explorado e desenvolvido tanto em nível de literatura como a nível prático e por se assistir, cada vez mais, ao recorrer da criatividade como forma de resolver problemas, melhorar processos e desenvolver novos bens e serviços. Tentou-se, igualmente, perceber de que forma é que se pode conjugar a arte no mundo empresarial, quais os benefícios para as empresas inerentes a este contacto, que tipos de iniciativas se poderão realizar ou que atualmente já se praticam e perceber se a arte poderá ser um fator de potencialização de responsabilidade social dentro das empresas. De forma a encontrar respostas para as questões em investigação, o estudo teve como base a empresa EDP (empresa líder no sector energético nacional), uma vez que esta se apresenta como um caso de integração da arte no mundo empresarial, dado possuir uma fundação de arte em nome próprio e ser um dos principais mecenas das artes em Portugal. O instrumento utilizado para a recolha de dados foi a entrevista, realizada a cinco colaboradores que pertencem à Fundação EDP, à Faculdade EDP, à EDP Valor e à EDP Distribuição. A recolha de dados secundários foi feita através da consulta de documentos da empresa EDP, nomeadamente documentos relacionados com iniciativas culturais, artigos e publicações da empresa. A consulta desta informação permitiu comprovar as iniciativas referidas pelos entrevistados e conhecer outras não mencionadas. Com este estudo é possível concluir que a arte se pode integrar com o mundo empresarial, constituindo-se como um fator chave para ajudar as empresas a diferenciarem-se num mundo global marcado pela elevada concorrência e constante inovação.

The present study aims to analyse the relationship between art and companies, specifically ways in which art enables value creation. The need to address this issue, from a management perspective, comes from the fact that this theme hasn't been the subject of many studies, and therefore has not been developed at both a theoretical and practical level. This study was also born from acknowledging the increasing use of creativity as a way to solve problems, to improve processes, and to develop new products and services. It is the aim of this study to understand how art can be integrated in the entrepreneurial world, the benefits that this contact brings to the companies, the kind of initiatives that can be carried out or that are being currently practiced, and to understand if art can increase social responsibility within companies. In order to find answers to the research questions, the study focused on EDP (the leading company in the national energy sector), since it is a case of a successful integration of art in the business world. The company has its own Arts Foundation and it is one of the leading patrons of the arts in Portugal. The method used to collect data was one to one interviews. These were conducted with five employees from Fundação EDP, Faculdade EDP, EDP Valor and EDP Distribuição. The collection of secondary data was done through the analysis of documents from EDP, specifically documents related to cultural initiatives, articles and publications of the company. This research enabled the verification of the information provided by the interviewees and to discover other initiatives that were not mentioned in the interviews. With this study it is possible to conclude that art can be integrated by companies, as it is a key differentiating factor in a highly competitive and innovation driven business world.
