O desenvolvimento tecnológico, científico e social mudaram o panorama mundial. Hoje, a distância entre os países é mais curta e os diferentes povos estão mais próximos. Se adaptar a esta realidade pode não ser tão simples, liderar então pode ser um enorme desafio. O Projeto GLOBE se insere neste contexto, Globe é um programa de investigação de longo prazo que trabalhou em 62 culturas diferentes. Destinou-se a conceituar, operacionalizar, fazer testes e validar a relação entre sociedade e cultura, organização e a eficácia da liderança. Este trabalho foi inspirado e embasado pelo Programa Globe. Visamos analisar este cenário em Portugal e no Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. Tivemos por objetivo a identificação da relação entre sociedade e cultura, e a liderança eficaz fazendo uma comparação entre líderes intermédios em Organizações prestadoras de serviços de saúde Portuguesas e Brasileiras. Foram analisadas separadamente, em cada um dos países, as nove dimensões das culturas sociais do projeto GLOBE e depois estas foram comparadas. Acreditamos que para diminuir a posssibilidade de choque cultural quando culturas diferentes se defrontam é necessário conhecer as diferenças culturais e a realidade social. É de extrema importância a compreensão das diferenças e a busca por alternativas para que a liderança alcance o sucesso neste nosso mundo globalizado.

The technological, scientific and social development changed the world scene.Today, the distance between the countries is shorter and the different people are closer. Adapt to this reality may not be so simple, to lead then can be a huge challenge. The GLOBE Project is included in this context, it is a long-term research program that worked in 62 different cultures. It was intended to conceptualize, operationalize, to test and validate the relationship between society and culture, organization and leadership effectiveness. This work was inspired and grounded by the Globe Program. We aim to analyze this scenario in Portugal and in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Our aim was to identify the relationship between society and culture, and effective leadership by making a comparison between intermediate leaders in healthcare service providers in Brazilian and Portuguese Organizations. Were analyzed separately in each country, the nine dimensions of social cultures of GLOBE project and then they were compared. We believe that to reduce the possibility of culture shock when different cultures are faced, it is necessary to know the cultural differences and the social reality. It is extremely important to understand the differences and the search for alternatives to the leadership achieves success in our globalized world
