O objectvo deste trabalho é desenvolver um novo olhar sobre a morfologia urbana da cidade de Penafel. Portanto o tema foca-se no estudo morfológico das cidades medievais portuguesas, como caso de estudo a cidade de Penafel, dando-a a conhecer como exemplo de cidade linear. Penafel surge como caso de estudo por algumas característcas interessantes, que a cidade apresenta morfologicamente, na evolução ao longo dos tempos, assim como o peso histórico regional. Portanto o estudo tenta abranger todo o desenvolvimento da cidade desde lugar até a actualidade, com principal foco no século XVIII, século que remete à ascensão do aglomerado de vila a cidade, até ao ano de 2015. Desta forma necessitou-se de interpretar visões de diversos autores tanto internacionais como nacionais para se perceber o que era a “linearidade” que Penafel transmita no tecido. O desejo que complementar os estudos até então realizados sobre o aglomerado é um dos objectvos. Podemos dizer que todo o trabalho é fruto do uso de dois elementos chaves, o primeiro é a visão ou observação que consiste na leitura da cidade como um todo e perceber os elementos primários que a levaram á forma actual, o segundo elemento é a interpretação, que advém da comparação das ligações provenientes da visão com estudos já realizados por outros autores referentes ao estudo morfológico das cidades

The aim of this work is to develop a new perspectve on the urban morphology of the city of Penafel. So the theme focuses on the morphological study of Portuguese medieval cites, as a case study the city of Penafel, making it known as an example of linear city. Penafel emerges as a case study for some interestng features, which the city has morphologically, the evoluton over tme, as well as regional historical weight. Therefore the study atempts to cover the entre development of the city from place to the present, with a primary focus in the eighteenth century, the century that refers to the rise of the village cluster of the city by the year 2015. In this way needed to interpret visions several authors both internatonal and natonal to realize what was the "linearity" that Penafel transmited into the tssue. The desire to supplement the hitherto studies on the cluster is one of the objectves. We can say that all the work is the result of the use of two key elements, the frst is the vision or observaton that is in the city of reading as a whole and realize the primary elements that led you present form, the second element is the interpretaton, that comes from comparison of the links from the vision with studies by other authors for the morphological study of cites.
