Os espaços públicos têm sofrido grandes transformações ao longo do tempo, provocadas pelas constantes alterações dos paradigmas da cidade e da sua população. A preocupação actual prende-se à sua flexibilidade e sustentabilidade, de forma a garantir espaços alternativos e viáveis para funções distintas e agradáveis. Como tal, o presente trabalho vem ao auxílio das necessidades atuais dos espaços públicos e da população, por meio de um sistema de sombreamento de caracter efémero, que se adapta às diferentes amplitudes registadas ao longo do dia e do ano, sem comprometer a fisionomia do espaço. Pretende-se que o modelo reproduza na sua essência as qualidades térmicas e visuais, reconhecidas na sombra produzida pelas árvores, reforçando desta forma as condições de conforto no espaço público. Objetivamente a estratégia consistiu em manipular a radiação solar de acordo com o seu ângulo de incidência, por meio de um processo geométrico que permitiu por sua vez deferir os períodos do dia e do ano em que se pretendia uma maior ou menor protecção solar. Resultando num conjunto de peças pequenas, sobrepostas e espaçadas entre si que permitem tanto a circulação e a refrigeração do ar, como a constante alteração dos padrões de sombra alcançados ao longo do dia e do ano. Verifica-se que os respectivos padrões alteram-se por iniciativa da incidência solar, provocando um jogo de cheios e vazios que se revelam estimulantes visualmente à semelhança da sombra produzida pelas árvores. Desta forma foi possível aproximar os modelos da natureza à arquitetura, proporcionando por sua vez condições favoráveis para a prática de diversas actividades nos espaços públicos.

The public spaces have suffered great transformations over time, caused by the frequent changes of the paradigms of the city and its population. The problem right now is due to the city flexibility and sustainability so that it is possible to guarantee alternative and viable spaces for distinct and pleasant functions. As such, the current work comes to help the recent necessity of public spaces and population, through a system of shading with ephemeral features, which adapts to the different amplitudes recorded throughout the day and the year, without compromising the physiognomy of the place. It is intended that the model reproduce in his essence the thermal qualities and visuals, recognized in the shadow produced by the trees, thereby reinforcing the conditions of comfort in the public space. Objectively the strategy was to manipulate the solar radiation according to its angle of incidence, with a geometric process that allowed accept or reject the periods of the day and year in which it was intended a greater or less solar protection. Resulting in a ensemble of small parts, overlapping and spaced between themselves which allow both the circulation and the air cooling, such as the frequent changing patterns of shadow achieved throughout the day and the year. It can be observed that the respective patterns have changed by the sun incidence causing an empty and full game that reveal themselves visually stimulating like the shadow produced by the trees. In this way it was possible to bring the models of nature to the architecture, providing in its turn favorable conditions to the practice of different activities in public spaces.
