Esta dissertação centra-se no objectivo de contribuir para o Futuro, recriando a atmosfera do Passado que embora não tenha sido totalmente concretizado, ainda permanece alguma da sua essência no Presente. No primeiro momento, procura-se estabelecer uma base referencial com os princípios da Arquitectura Moderna, estudando tanto casos teóricos como práticos, um pouco por toda a europa. A investigação incide sobre as décadas de 50 e 70, altura em que Portugal sofre um grande crescimento económico e populacional, consequentemente um vasto número de pessoas à procura de residência. O centro de Lisboa encontra-se lotado. Uma classe social mais favorecida, com necessidades habitacionais mais exigentes, vê as áreas limítrofes da cidade como solução para se instalarem. Depressa, as imobiliárias tomam como um novo objectivo de negócio, a construção de grandes empreendimentos residenciais. Aliadas a fortes investidores, e a crédito fácil, criam grandes empresas especializadas não só no planeamento e na construção, como também na promoção e venda. Nesta altura, muitos ateliers tirando partido, associam-se a estas empresas, onde obtém uma maior abertura económica para ensaiarem com mais liberdade novos conceitos. Como reflexão final, pretende-se fazer uma retrospectiva dos verdadeiros princípios do plano original para a zona da Portela, compará-los com a urbanização como é hoje e perceber de que forma estes princípios perduraram até aos dias de hoje, fazendo dela um exemplo único em Portugal. This dissertation focuses on the objective of contributing to the future, recreating the atmosphere of the past that although it has not been fully implemented, still remains some of the essence in the present. At first, seeks to establish a reference base with the principles of modern architecture, studying both theoretical as practical cases, throughout Europe. The investigation focuses on the decades of 50 and 70, when Portugal suffers a major economic and population growth, as a result a large number of people looking for housing. The Centre of Lisbon is crowded. Social classes most favored, with housing needs more demanding, see the neighboring areas of the city as a solution to settle. Soon, the real estate takes as a new business goal, the construction of large residential developments. Strong Allied investors, and easy credit, create great companies that specialize not only in planning and construction, but also in the promotion and sale. At this point, many workshops taking advantage are associated to these companies, which gets greater economic opening to rehearse with more freedom new concepts. As a final reflection, I intend to make a retrospective of the true principles of the original plan for the zone of Portela, compare them with the urbanization as it is today and realize how these principles have endured to this day, making it a unique example in Portugal.
