O objetivo principal deste estudo centra-se nas mudanças ocorridas no E.P. Linhó, e de que forma essas mudanças se refletiram no quotidiano dos reclusos e dos guardas. Foram meus interlocutores os guardas prisionais, indivíduos que também sofrem de “clausura” e “isolamento” durante o seu percurso profissional. As suas aspirações, o que pensam, o que sentem, o que vivenciaram durante o tempo de serviço no Estabelecimento Prisional do Linhó, como assistiram e (reagiram) às mudanças produzidas neste espaço através da implementação de reformas e das modificações a nível interno do E. P., é o que pretendo averiguar. Nesta investigação, procurou-se “sentir” a visão do guarda prisional, tentar compreender a perspetiva do G.P. e a forma como cada um “vê” a prisão. Neste sentido, este estudo procurou conhecer as mudanças ocorridas no E.P. Linhó durante o período de 1994- 2014, vivenciadas pelos guardas prisionais e quais as suas perceções perante essas mudanças. E porque os guardas prisionais também não são os mesmos de há vinte anos, perceber que mudanças se operaram a nível pessoal e profissional, ocorridas durante este seu trajeto.

This study article focuses on changes in the Linhó prison and how these changes reflected in the daily lives of the inmates and the prison guards. The prison guards were my interlocutors, individual also suffering from “enclosure” and “isolation” during their professional career. Their aspirations, what they think, what they feel, what they experienced during the time of service in the Linhó prison, how they saw (and reacted to) the implementations of reforms and the internal changes in Linhó prison is what I intend to find out. In this investigation, I’ve tried to “feel” the prison guard’s vision, and tried to understand their perspective and how each one “sees” the prison. Thus, this study aimed to find out changes during the 1994-2014 period in the Linhó prison experienced by prison guards and their perception in the face of these changes. And in as much as the prison guards are not the same as twenty years ago, this study tried to realize what changes have operated on a personal and professional level, during their journey.
