A quarta revolução industrial, mais conhecida como Indústria 4.0, pretende transformar as uni-dades industriais em organizações mais eficientes e produtivas, através da implementação de várias tecnologias baseadas no digital e nos sistemas inteligentes. O impacto em toda a cadeia de valor é bastante considerável, sendo as oportunidades e barreiras, imensas. Neste estudo, para além de uma revisão de literatura sobre a Indústria 4.0, na qual se aborda a contextualização histórica das várias revoluções industriais e se desenvolve o tema I4.0 apre-sentando as várias tecnologias que a suportam, assim como os seus benefícios e desvantagens, apresenta-se também o estado da nação, suportado em estudos feitos por consultoras e entidades públicas. Os objetivos desta dissertação passam por traçar o cenário resultante da implementação do conceito Indústria 4.0 em Portugal, percebendo se a integração de uma estratégia digital na estratégia geral é já uma realidade, identificando os benefícios sentidos e quais as dificuldades passadas e procurando ainda aferir qual a melhor ferramenta para identificar o nível de maturi-dade I4.0 das empresas industriais portuguesas. Para tal, foi utilizada uma abordagem qualitativa, através de uma análise de conteúdo de 18 entrevistas realizadas a gestores e administradores da área industrial. Da investigação, sobressai o facto de não se verificar uma visão integrada do conceito I4.0, sendo que os resultados demonstram uma preocupação das empresas com o assunto, existindo ações que visam a implementação do conceito nas suas organizações (ainda que a um nível considerado baixo e localizadas em determinados departamentos), apresentando como princi-pais barreiras, o nível de investimento necessário e a gestão da mudança. Quanto aos benefícios, a grande maioria salienta os aumentos de produtividade e a diminuição de erros ao longo do processo.

The fourth industrial revolution, better known as Industry 4.0, aims to transform industrial units into more efficient and productive organizations, through the implementation of various technologies based on digital and intelligent systems. The impact on the entire value chain is quite considerable, and the opportunities and barriers are immense. In this study, in addition to a literature review on Industry 4.0, which addresses the historical context of the various industrial revolutions and develops the theme I4.0, presenting the various technologies that support it, as well as the benefits and disadvantages, the state of the nation is also presented, supported by studies carried out by consultants and public entities. The goals of this dissertation are to outline the scenario resulting from the implementation of the Industry 4.0 concept in Portugal, realizing whether the integration of a digital strategy into the general strategy is already a reality, as well as identifying the benefits felt and what the past difficulties are, and also seeking to measure what is the best tool to identify the I4.0 maturity level of Portuguese industrial companies. To this end, a qualitative approach was used, through a content analysis of 18 interviews conducted with managers and administrators in the industrial area. The research highlights the fact that there is no integrated view of the I4.0 concept, although the results demonstrate a concern of companies with the subject, with actions aimed at implementing the concept in their organizations (although at a level considered low and located in certain departments), with the main barriers being the level of investment needed and change management. As for the benefits, the vast majority reveal the increases in productivity and the reduction of errors throughout the process.
