A presente dissertação tem por objetivo identificar a evolução e significado dos Museus privados na Rede Portuguesa de Museus, a partir de uma análise comparativa com a totalidade do universo da RPM e com outras redes museológicas europeias. Procura-se identificar e compreender qual a dinâmica e amplitude da participação de museus privados na Rede Portuguesa de Museus, a partir de que modelos se baseia esta participação e qual a atitude da RPM relativamente aos museus privados. Atendendo a questões como: Qual a força de ação da RPM? Como se caracteriza a relação da RPM com museus privados? Existem diferenças de comportamento dependendo da tutela do museu? Quem participa mais na rede? Para este efeito, independentemente dos estudos analisados, recorre-se a entrevistas realizadas aos responsáveis da RPM e aos responsáveis de museus privados.

This dissertation aims to identify the evolution and meaning of private Museums in the Rede Portuguesa de Museus (RPM), based on a comparative analysis with the entire universe of RPM and other European museum networks. It seeks to identify and understand the dynamics and extent of the private museums' participation in the Rede Portuguesa de Museus - on what models this participation is based and what is the attitude of RPM towards private museums. Taking into account questions such as: What is the force of action of RPM? How is the relationship between RPM and private museums characterized? Are there any behavior differences depending on the tutelage of the museum? Who participates more in the network? For this purpose, regardless of the studies analyzed, interviews are conducted with those responsible for RPM and those responsible for private museums.
