O universo contemporâneo das artes enfrenta uma redução tendencial do investimento governamental na Cultura, levando artistas e gestores culturais a procurar alternativas que lhes permitam salvaguardar esta área de interesse público. Em Portugal, as organizações culturais sem fins lucrativos, orientadas para o serviço público, enfrentam dificuldades acrescidas de subsistência, no âmbito de um sector cultural com problemas estruturais. O presente trabalho observa o fenómeno de hibridização das organizações culturais enquanto alternativa promotora do seu autofinanciamento, para que possam conciliar a persecução da sua missão cultural, social, artística e a sua independência financeira. Poderá a lógica organizacional das estruturas híbridas constituir uma alternativa para o sector da cultura? Para responder a esta questão, procede-se à análise de três casos de estudo, a Muziekpublique e o MIMA em Bruxelas, e o Gerador em Lisboa, partindo de uma base teórica que observa tendências emergentes de política e gestão cultural.

The contemporary universe of arts faces a tendential decrease in government investment, leading artists and cultural managers to look for alternatives that may safeguard this area of public interest. In Portugal, non-profit cultural organizations, oriented towards public service, face increased difficulties of subsistence within a cultural sector with structural problems. This work approaches hybridization in cultural organizations as a phenomenon that might be an alternative that seeks to promote self-funding, so that these organizations can reconcile the pursuit of their cultural, social, artistic mission and their financial independence. Could the organizational logic of hybrid structures be an alternative for the cultural sector? To answer this question, three case studies are analysed – Muziekpublique and MIMA in Brussels, Gerador in Lisbon – based on a theoretical groundwork that observes emerging trends on cultural policy and cultural management.
