Submissions are open to Fernão Mendes Pinto Award, awarded annually by AULP, which aims to reward a master's or doctoral  thesis that contributes to the approximation of the Portuguese-speaking communities, advocated during the previous calendar year.

The value of the Prize Mendes Pinto is € 8,000 (eight thousand euros) in a joint partnership between the CPLP and AULP to the winning author and the publication of which will be the responsibility of the Instituto Camões.
