Operationalising Social Sciences in Health Emergency in Africa” with our special guest Santiago Ripoll.

Humanitarian needs are escalating globally, with around 300 million people requiring assistance – over half in Africa. These crises are increasingly driven by conflict, climate-related disasters and emergencies and economic instability, all severely impacting public health and disrupting health systems.

Santiago Ripoll is a social anthropologist specialised in food security, health and nutrition. He uses ethnographic and participatory approaches to individual and behavioural change in health, food and nutrition systems and in the context of humanitarian emergencies. He’s a Research Fellow in IDS since 2018 and the Director of the Sussex University Social Science and Ethics Research Group (SSERG).

This seminar will be held in 10 December, room C2.02 of Building 2, at 1 PM. Entrance is free.

Organized by the Master's in Development Studies.
