Strategic Management and Governance
Álvaro Rosa is a professor of Management. His areas of research and study are Strategy, Governance and Cross-Cultural Management. In addition, he is also a researcher and teacher of Chinese Studies, namely Contemporary China. Currently, he is the Director of Master Degree in Chinese Studies, a joint program of University of Aveiro and ISCTE - IUL. Professionally, he is a coach and trainer in negotiation techniques.

Dulce Morgado Neves completed her PhD in Sociology from ISCTE-IUL (2013), presenting a thesis entitled "Intimacy and Sexual Life: changes and continuities from a gender and generation based perspective". She is a researcher at CIES-Iscte and her main research interests are related to gender, sexuality, childbirth, parenting and social movements. Currently, she coordinates the research projects “Childbirth Activisms in Europe: trajectories, modes of action and achievements” (2018-2024) and “ABRIL MATER: motherhood and childbirth before and after the Revolution” (2023-2024), funded by FCT. She is the co-founder and co-coordinator of the Laboratory for Social Studies on Childbirth – nascer.pt, a research hosted, launched in 2017, hosted by CIES-Iscte.

She is Associate Professor at the Department of Human Resources and Organizational Behavior at ISCTE Business School. She is Director of the LIA Iscte - Laboratory for Innovation in Academia. She is Director of the Executive Master in Healthcare Services Management. She is Director of the Executive Master in Strategic People Management and Leadership, of the Executive Master in Healthcare Services Management and of the Post-Graduation at ISCTE Executive Education. The main areas of research are healthcare management and strategic people management. She has been a member of boards of directors (or advisor) and has extensive consulting experience in Strategic People Management, Healthcare Services Management and Organizational Change in multiple organizations, private, public and social economy, across different business sectors.

Maria João Major (publication name: Maria Major) is a Full Professor of Management Accounting and Control at ISCTE–IUL (Lisbon, Portugal). She holds a PhD from the University of Manchester, UK, and completed postdoctoral research at Manchester Business School, UK.
Maria João was a Visiting Research Fellow at Alliance Manchester Business School, UK, in 2016, and at Griffith University, Australia, in 2001. She has published in leading academic journals, including Management Accounting Research, European Accounting Review, Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal, Accounting, Organizations and Society, Financial Accountability & Management, Journal of Public Budgeting, Accounting & Financial Management, and Public Money and Management, among others.
She is also the author and co-author of several books and international book chapters. Maria João serves on the editorial boards of Qualitative Research in Accounting and Management, Journal of Accounting and Organizational Change, and Journal of Public Budgeting, Accounting & Financial Management, and has previously served on the editorial board of the European Accounting Review. She is actively involved in reviewing manuscripts for several leading accounting journals.
Maria João has been a member of the scientific committees of numerous international accounting conferences, including the annual congresses of the European Accounting Association. She was the convenor of the Manufacturing Accounting Research (EIASM) 2016 and European Network for Research on Organizational and Accounting Change (ENROAC) 2011 conferences.
Additionally, Maria João has received teaching awards recognising her as an outstanding lecturer. Before joining ISCTE–IUL, she was an Associate Professor at Nova School of Business and Economics, where she taught across PhD, Master’s, Bachelor’s, and Executive Education programmes.
More recently, she served as a Non-Executive Director (NED) on the Board of Directors of Portugal’s largest bank, Caixa Geral de Depósitos, where she also sat on the Audit Committee and the Governance Committee (December 2021 – July 2025).

Nuno Crespo holds a PhD in Economics and a Master degree in International Economics. He is the Director of the Master in Business Economics and Competition. In the most recent years, Nuno Crespo was Vice-Rector of ISCTE-IUL and assumed several other positions such as Director of the Department of Economics, Scientific Commission of the Department of Economics, and the coordenation of courses (Master in Portuguese Economy and International Integration and Master in Health Services Management).
Researcher at Business Research Unit (BRU-IUL), he has several publications in scientific journals such as World Economy, World Development, Economics Letters, Review of World Economics, Journal of Common Market Studies, Journal of Economic Surveys, Empirical Economics, Papers in Regional Science, Tourism Analysis, Journal of Economics and Social Measurement, Telecommunications Policy, Journal of Informetrics, Scientometrics, International Review of Applied Economics, International Journal of Social Economics. Publications of books and book chapters in his areas of expertise. He is Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Academy of Entrepreneurship Journal and member of the editorial board of several international scientific journals (European Journal of International Management, International Journal of Trade and Global Markets, International Journal of Knowledge and Learning, Sustainability, and Tourism Analysis, among others). Innovation in Healthcare Technologies
Dr. Octavian Adrian Postolache is graduated in Electrical Engineering at the Gh. Asachi Technical University of Iasi, Romania, in 1992 and he received the PhD degree in 1999 from the same university, and university habilitation in 2016 from Instituto Superior Tecnico, Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal. In 2000 he became principal researcher of Instituto de Telecomunicações where he is now Senior Researcher. He joined Instituto Universitario de Lisboa/ ISCTE-IUL Lisbon where he is currently Associate Professor. His fields of interests are smart sensors for biomedical, smart ports and environmental applications, pervasive computing, wireless sensor networks, signal processing for biomedical applications and computational intelligence, IoT and data science. He is active member of national and international research teams involved in Portuguese and EU and International projects. Dr. Postolache is author and co-author of 10 patents, 10 books, 18 book chapters, 82 papers in international journals with peer review, more than 270 papers in proceedings of international conferences. He is IEEE Senior Member I&M Society, Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE IMS, chair of IEEE I&MSTC-13 Wireless and Telecommunications in Measurements and chair of IEEE IMS Portugal Chapter. He is Associate Editor of IEEE Sensors Journal, Sensors MDPI. He was general chair of IEEE MeMeA 2014, IEEE ISSI 2018 and TPC chair of ICST 2014, Liverpool and ICST 2017 in Sydney, ICST2018 in Limerick. He received IEEE best reviewer and the best associate editor in 2011, 2013 and 2017, and other awards related to his research activity in the field of smart sensing and IoT.

Rúben S. Barros is an Assistant Professor of Management Accounting and Control at Iscte – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa and associated researcher at the Business Research Unit (BRU-IUL). His current research interests are related to management accounting and control. Particularly, he has investigated management control systems design and use with a focus on innovation, and performance measurement and management in public organizations. He has published in reputable international peer-reviewed journals like Journal of Accounting and Organizational Change, Journal of Management Control, and Qualitative Research in Accounting and Management.

Violeta Alarcão holds a degree (Pre-Bolonha) (FCSH-UNL 2000) and a Ph.D. in Sociology (ISCTE-IUL 2016) and has extensive experience as a medical sociologist and in clinical and epidemiological research. She was a researcher at the Institute of Preventive Medicine and Public Health (IMP&SP), Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMUL) from 2004 to 2019, having participated in and coordinated several research projects. Currently, she is a Researcher at the Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES-Iscte) of the University Institute of Lisbon and collaborates as a researcher at the Institute of Environmental Health (ISAMB-FMUL). Her research interests are multiple and interdisciplinary, having come increasingly to include topics such as sexuality, gender, and ethnicity, in a transdisciplinary perspective. She has published on these topics at the national and international levels. Other areas of interest include behavioral and socio-economic determinants of health; life-course and well-being; active and healthy aging; and nutrition and food insecurity.
She was the Principal Investigator of the research project funded by FCT Fertility, Migration and Acculturation: Intersectional approach to the sexual and reproductive experiences and expectations among Cape Verdean and Portuguese Families and also of the research project Promoting citizenship and sexual rights in Immigrant Populations in Portugal: co-production of recommendations and best practices for the reduction of sexual and reproductive inequalities, with funding from the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (FAMI).
Her most recent project is entitled CROSS-MINDS — Participatory Construction of Menstrual Health Monitoring Indicators in France and Portugal in collaboration with the French Institute for Demographic Studies (INED).
