There is no program, each year there are different conferences

Critical essay in which the student reflects upon 6 conferences/lectures that he/she attended during the academic year: The 3 conferences/lectures he/she considers most interesting and the 3 conferences considered to be the least interesting.
The conferences/lectures included in the critical essay can be those organized by Iscte-IULs Ph.D. Program in Psychology or others, organized by alternative institutions (in which case students must present an attendance certificate).

When they finish the UC the students will be able to:

OA2. Identify how, in some of the current research programs in psychology, research goals, approaches and
methods are connected
AO3. Compare some of the current research programs in psychology with their own research projects

Each year the Programmatic contents of the seminars Advanced Themes are tailored to the specific needs of the enrolled students.

a) Requirement for evaluation: Attendance of the seminars. Unjustified absence is only allowed for 25% of the seminars

b) The student chooses 1 of the Advanced Methodology seminars available for assessment. The teacher accepts to evaluate the student (according to the number of students evaluated) and presents an assignment proposal that will be evaluated with a quantitative score (0-20).

b) Critical reflection about one of the seminars attended throughout the academic year, elaborating on the aspects that the student's Ph.D. project shares with the seminar by either
1) raising a research question that is relevant for the Ph.D. project based on the theory presented in the seminar; or
2) designing a study based on the methodology presented in the seminar.

This curricular unit aims at supporting the development of the research that will lead to the doctoral dissertation.
By the end of this CU, the student will be able:
LG1. To master the knowledge and the methods of research associated with his/her field of investigation
LG2. To autonously conceive, design, implement and write a research
LG3. To engage in critical analysis, evaluation and discussion of his/her investigation with peers and colleagues.
LG4. to organize knowledge and to transmit it to others.

There is no real syllabus in this CU, but several opportunities are created to allow the students ocasions to develop their knowlege, and to conceive and discuss research for producing new one.

In particular, the evolution of students research related knowledge and skills will be the result of:

1. the close supervision of his/her work by the supervisor
2. his/her active participation in the regular activities of a research group (in particular the research groups in CIS-IUL)
3. the annual presentation of his/her research at the Meeting of Social Psychology
4. the debate of the research presented by his/her perrs in the same annual event
5. the participation in the teaching activities in the department

a) Requirements
- Presentation of ongoing research in the PhD programme conference and discussion with a discussant
- Participation in the meetings of a research group (e.g., of CIS-IUL) chosen with the supervisor, with at least 1 presentation. Maximum unjustified absences: 50%.
b) Critical reflection about the progress of the research in the activity report. Qualitative and quantitative evaluation by the supervisor and the reviewer. Scale: 0 to 20.

The student who will successfully complete this course will be able to:

a) Requirements for evaluation:
- Attendance of at least 75% of the seminars.
- Participation in the organization of at least one scientific event (e.g., conference)
- 1 supervised lecture in any of the degrees of the Department of Social and Organizational Psychology

b) The student chooses 1 of the seminars that is admitted for evaluation. The docent accepts to evaluate the student and proposes an exercise that should be evaluated on a scale from 0 to 20.

A student that successfully realizes this course should be able to:

In each year, the syllabus will be closely aligned to the research projects presented and implemented by doctoral students. Through presentation and discussion of completed research or work in progress the programme intends to provide the foundations for a better theoretical contextualization of the students works.

Critical reflection about the progress of the research project, which should be included in the annual activity report and will be evaluated qualitatively and quantitatively on a scale from 0 to 20 by the supervisor and the reviewer of the doctoral project (relator).
