• The Iscte Scientific Awards*, which aim to promote and publicize the excellence and international recognition of the scientific work of the Institute, with a total value of 544,396.38 in 2018, were attributed to 274 scientific articles written by 205 authors at Iscte. * The awards relate to scientific publications in journals in quartiles 1 and 2, the Journal Citation Reports (JCR - Thomson Reuters) and SCImago Journal Rank (SJR - Scopus).

  • Iscte research units in 2018 included 1143 members, of which 14% were foreigners from 35 countries, and 40% (461) were doctoral candidates (FCT). As regards real time spent on research, the 1143 members correspond to 613.5 FTEs, of which 237 FTEs were doctoral candidates.

  • In 2018, researchers from the eight research units of Iscte published a total of 1446 scientific papers corresponding to a doctoral candidate publication ratio of 3.1. Of these scientific papers, 82% were scientifically reviewed publications, 16% of which were published in journals classified in the 1st quartile of the JCR (Thomson Reuters) and SJR (Scopus) rankings.

  • In 2018, 199 research projects were ongoing, 73% of which were funded by national programmes, namely the FCT and other agencies, 24% of which were financed by international funding and 3% of which had no external funding.

  • In 2018, the Iscte research units were responsible for organizing 365 events, including symposia, conferences, seminars, meetings and colloquia, with 60% of these events being international in their scope.

  • Members of the eight research units of Iscte presented a total of 1414 scientific papers at national (37%) and international (63%) congresses in 2018.
