Students have the opportunity to do internships, which will allow them to acquire professional skills in various areas and also further develop their master's dissertations. Students also have the option to develop their research in connection with the Center for International Studies (CEI-Iscte).

Upon completion of the Master in African Studies, students are prepared to further their professional careers in diverse fields:
- teaching at different levels of education
- scientific research
- diplomacy
- analysis and planning of projects
- advising in national and international organizations (public institutions, international institutions, NGOs, other organizations)
- political and social media consulting on African issues
