Professor Ricardo Paes Mamede is the new Vice-Rector of Iscte for the Development of Academic Cooperation with East Asia. In making this appointment, the Rector of Iscte, Professor Maria de Lurdes Rodrigues, took into account Iscte's internationalization strategy in promoting relations with universities in these countries and the new opportunities that have been emerging.

The inauguration ceremony took place on December 18, 2025, in the Sala de Atos, Iscte Lisboa.

Ricardo Paes Mamede was born in Coimbra in 1974 and has been teaching at Iscte since 1999. He holds a PhD in Economics from Bocconi University (Italy) and a Master's degree in Economics and Science and Technology Management from the Higher Institute of Economics and Management, University of Lisbon (ISEG).

He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Economy at Iscte's School of Social and Human Sciences, and also a researcher at the Dinâmia'CET-Iscte research unit. He is a regular columnist in the press and a commentator in the audiovisual media, having been the first head of Iscte-Sintra, which began operating in 2022.
