Accommodation Supplement for Scholarship Holders (This information will be updated shortly, in accordance with the new DGES Scholarship Regulations.)

To be eligible for the accommodation supplement, scholarship students who are studying away from home must apply for accommodation in an Iscte residence by completing the application form above within the indicated deadlines. During the academic period, these students are entitled to a monthly accommodation supplement equal to the amount actually paid for their accommodation, as evidenced by a rent receipt. This amount is paid in addition to the basic scholarship, in accordance with the current Scholarship Regulations.

Therefore, if a scholarship holder has applied for accommodation in a student residence but has not been allocated a place and is renting a room or flat, with proof of the rent actually paid (tenancy agreement/rent receipts), they may apply for this supplement. Scholarship holders in these circumstances must submit their rent receipts and tenancy agreement validated by the Portuguese Tax Authority to the SAS so that they can be added to their scholarship application.

When completing the scholarship application form, you must select "Yes" for the options "Student living away from home?" and "Applying for a place in a student residence?"

Accommodation Supplement for Non-Scholarship Students

Since the 2024/2025 academic year, students living away from home who are not scholarship holders and who are unable to obtain a place in student accommodation may be eligible for an accommodation supplement.

Who is eligible for the Accommodation Supplement for Non-Scholarship Students?

• Students living away from home while attending higher education.
• Students who are not scholarship holders. They must submit a scholarship application by 31 October (through the DGES platform – access credentials should be requested by sending an email to sas@iscte-iul.pt). In the application form (under the "Personal Data" section), applicants must indicate that, if the scholarship is not awarded solely because the household's per capita income exceeds the eligibility threshold (household per capita income exceeding 23 times the Social Support Index in force at the beginning of the academic year), they wish to apply for the accommodation supplement.
• Students whose household per capita income is equal to or lower than 28 times the Social Support Index in force at the beginning of the academic year.
• Students who meet all other conditions set out in the Scholarship Regulations for Higher Education Students.
• Students who have applied for a place in a university residence (see "How to Apply for Accommodation in Iscte Residences").
• Students who submit rent payment receipts and the corresponding tenancy agreement where the receipts are not issued electronically.

Odivelas University Residence – INFORMATION BEING UPDATED

This is a new residence which came into operation during the 2025/2026 academic year and is located next to the D. Dinis Monastery in Odivelas.

It provides mixed accommodation and consists of 100 single rooms and 52 twin rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms, one shared kitchen per floor, study rooms, communal areas and a laundry room.

The monthly fee for DGES scholarship students living away from home is €91.44 (for the 2025/2026 academic year) in a twin room.
