Caixa Mais Mundo Awards

The 8th edition of the "Caixa Mais Mundo" Awards (2025/2026), in partnership with the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES), is an initiative that distinguishes 600 students with the best academic performance in access to public higher education and in private Higher Education Institutions, with a protocol with Caixa, reinforcing their commitment to Education, academic merit and equal opportunities.

The 8th edition of the Caixa Mais Mundo Awards includes the following categories:

·       150 Academic Merit Awards, worth 1,000 euros, for students of undergraduate courses or Higher Professional Technical Courses (CTeSP);

·       360 Scholarships for Students in Need, worth 1,500 euros, distributed by 1st year students and scholarship holders from previous editions;

·       50 Merit Awards, worth 1,000 euros, for students from Professional Courses who continued their studies in higher education;

·       40 Merit Awards, worth 1,000 euros, for students with nationality from Portuguese-speaking countries, who have completed secondary education in Portugal and are attending higher education.

Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon was awarded 29 merit awards.
The identification of students with the best application grades is the responsibility of the DGES, in accordance with the selection criteria for each category.

The 6th edition of the "Caixa Mais Mundo" Awards (2023/2024), in partnership with the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES), aims to strengthen connections with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) by supporting higher education students in pursuing their studies. The awards aim to expand access to young people who wish to study in higher education, encouraging the continuity of studies in HEIs by valuing the academic merit of students who have completed secondary education. In this edition, CGD has increased the total amount of these Awards, allowing us to increase the number of merit awards and social scholarships awarded, as well as the unit value of social scholarships, thereby supporting more students from more disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds.

Eligibility criteria contained in the Regulation of this edition:

1.               150 Academic Merit Awards for the best national students enrolled in bachelor's and integrated master's degrees and students enrolled in Higher Professional Technical Courses (CTeSP) in the academic year 2023/2024, who have presented the best classification;

2.              140 Scholarships for needy students for the best national students who have completed regular secondary education and are enrolled in bachelor's or integrated master's degrees in the academic year 2023/2024, and who cumulatively prove a situation of economic need (according to DGES award criteria);

3.              50 Merit Awards for Professional Course students for the best national students who completed vocational secondary education courses with the best results and continued their studies in Higher Education Institutions;

4.             40 Merit Awards for PALOP students for the best students of PALOP nationality (Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Timor, S. Tomé and Príncipe) who have completed regular secondary education in Portugal and who have enrolled in undergraduate or integrated master's courses in Portuguese HEIs.

Additionally, to continue supporting students with limited economic resources, CGD renewed the scholarship for needy students who distinguished themselves in the previous academic year (2022/2023).

Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon was awarded 23 merit awards.

The 2nd edition of the "Prémios Mais Mundo (2019/2020)", in partnership with the General Directorate of Higher Education (DGES), is part of CGD's Caixa Social Program, which, among other areas of intervention, attributes enormous relevance to Education and Knowledge.

In this edition, academic merit and continuity of training are distinguished, with the attribution of a unitary value of €1,500.00, to the 100 best national students who entered, through the national competition for access to higher education, distributed according to the following criteria set out in the attached Regulation:

• 40 Merit Awards aimed at national students enrolled in bachelor's degrees, integrated master's degrees and professional higher technical courses (CTESP) in the 2019/2020 academic year who have presented the best classification;
• 20 Scholarships for students in need (new) aimed at national students enrolled in bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, integrated in the 2019/2020 academic year,r with economic difficulties;
• 20 Merit Awards for students on Professional Courses (new) aimed at national students who completed professional secondary education courses with the best grades in the previous academic year;
• 20 Merit Awards for PALOP students (new) aimed at students placed and enrolled in integrated bachelor's or master's degrees in the 2019/2020 academic year originating in the following countries: Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Timor, S. Tomé and Príncipe.

Iscte was awarded 5 merit awards.
