Renewals and new applications for University Accommodation for the 2026/2027 academic year will take place according to the following timeline:

NEW APPLICATIONS – Displaced students* who will be joining Iscte for the first time, or who are already attending Iscte but have not been accommodated in Iscte residences/hostels during the 2025/2026 academic year : must complete the application form from June the 2nd until all places are filled and must select the “New Application” option;

RENEWALS - all displaced students* already accommodated in the 2025/2026 academic year in Iscte student residences: must complete the application form between June the 2nd and June the 30rd and select the “Renewal” option. After this deadline, no further renewal applications will be accepted. Students who were accommodated in 2025/2026 and fail renew within this period will not be eligible to apply as new applicants.

The application form can only be submitted after you are enrolled on a course at Iscte and have an active institutional email account (XXXXXXX@iscte-iul.pt).

The following groups have priority in the allocation of places:

Displaced students already in accommodation during the 2025/2026 academic year (renewals);
Iscte students who are displaced and hold scholarship status from the Instituto Ensino Superior, I.P. (formerly DGES), and students in situations of humanitarian emergency;
Other displaced Iscte students, including those participating in the ERASMUS+ Programme, the “European University” network, or other international mobility agreements established with Iscte.

*in accordance with the Regulations on the Award of Scholarships to Higher Education Students.

Accommodation Supplement for Displaced Scholarship Students

All displaced scholarship students* are entitled to an accommodation supplement of €161.14 (30% of the Social Support Index – IAS), awarded in accordance with the provisions of the Regulations for the Award of Scholarships to Higher Education Students.

*To be considered a displaced student, the distance between the student’s permanent residence and their place of study should normally be 50 kilometres or more (where the distance is shorter, the situation may be assessed on a case-by-case basis, taking transport options into account).

To receive this supplement:

Students must select “Yes” for both “Displaced student?” and “Applying for a place in a university residence?” on the scholarship application form.

Increased Accommodation Supplement

Displaced scholarship students who have applied for accommodation in a university residence but have not been allocated a place are entitled to an additional increase in their scholarship. This increase amounts to €338.86 per month in Lisbon and €226.86 per month in Sintra (corresponding to the difference between the accommodation supplement referred to above (€161.14) and the reference amount for private accommodation in the municipality where the student attends their course (€500 in Lisbon and €388 in Sintra)).

If a place in a university residence is allocated and the student chooses not to accept it, they remain entitled to the accommodation supplement applicable to displaced scholarship students (€161.14), but are not entitled to the increased supplement.

Displaced scholarship students are given priority when applying for student residences.

Accommodation Supplement for Non-Scholarship Students

Displaced students who do not receive a scholarship and who are not allocated a place in a university residence may be eligible for an accommodation supplement.

Who is eligible for the Accommodation Supplement for non-scholarship students?

Students may receive this support if they meet all of the following conditions:

they are displaced* higher education students;
they apply for a place in a university residence and are not allocated one (proof that a place was not allocated must be provided);
they have submitted a scholarship application by 31 October;
they have indicated on the application form that they wish to receive the accommodation supplement for non-scholarship students if their scholarship application is rejected solely because their household’s per capita income exceeds 23 times the Social Support Index (IAS) in force at the beginning of the academic year;
their household’s per capita income is equal to or less than 28 times the IAS in force at the beginning of the academic year;
they meet the remaining conditions set out in the Regulations for the Award of Scholarships to Higher Education Students;
they provide receipts proving payment for their accommodation and, where the receipts are not electronic, the corresponding tenancy agreement.

The amount of the accommodation supplement is determined in accordance with the conditions and limits established in the Regulations currently in force.

Accommodation Application Form

Mosteiro de Odivelas University Residence

This is a new university residence which opened in the previous academic year and is located next to the D. Dinis Monastery in Odivelas.

The residence offers mixed-gender accommodation and has 100 single rooms and 52 twin rooms with en-suite bathrooms. It also includes a kitchen on each floor, study rooms, communal areas and a laundry room.

For the 2026/2027 academic year, the monthly fee for displaced students receiving an IES, I.P. study grant is €161.14 for a twin room with an en-suite bathroom.
