LO1. To properly apply the acquired instruments and methodology;

LO3.1:Definition and delimitation of a research field, formulation and justification of a hypothesis, planning methods and techniques.
LO3.2:Organization of a thesis plan: central question, the object and its context, objective definition. Definition of a provisory structure;
LO3.3:Completing the thesis project: resources, tools and research methods

Research Methods in Architecture of Contemporary Metropolitan Territories shall specifically deal, during class time, with:
P1 - Typifying research methodologies, rules and procedures;
P2 - Presentation of a set thematic sessions which will exemplify approaches focusing on the disciplinary fields related to metropolitan dynamics.

Students will be evaluated on a continuous evaluation process:
- Report requested by the faculty member - 80%.
- Attendance and participation in debates - 20%.
There is no possibility of final evaluation.

Research project in Architecture of Contemporary Metropolitan Territories aims the conceptual improvement of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Public Art and territorial development, and is applied to a case study concerning the metropolitan phenomenon.

OA3. To expand research in the field of territories of metropolitan production phenomenon in their cultural and technological framework in an interdisciplinary holistic perspective;

Research seminar in Architecture of Contemporary Metropolitan Territories aims towards the tutorial guidance of an original thesis plan elaboration in this domain, namely landscape architecture, public art and territorial development.

2. To motivate for a progressive disciplinary autonomy in the two research branches (theoretical and project-oriented);
3. To improve the research methodologies, adjusting them to the diverse research itineraries;
4. To promote debate and discussion sessions, so as to regularly test the feasibility and the validity of the research in progress;
5. To promote the participation in national and international congresses, as a means to divulge the partial research results;
6. To spread the debate about Metropolitan Contemporary Territories to the external community;
7. To establish international research networks;
8. To contribute for the national and international information on this field.

This Curricular Unit's programmatic contents will, mostly, be defined by doctoral students, through specific research undergone in the scope of the PhD Thesis in Architecture of Contemporary Metropolitan Territories.
Throughout the three years which this curricular unit will take place, tutorial guidance for the elaboration of an original PhD Thesis in the field of Architecture of Contemporary Metropolitan Territories, in the theoretical and project oriented dual aspect. A conference cycle will take place.

Evaluation will take place by the end of the study cycle, in a public act for the obtainance of the doctorate degree.
