The current Department of Marketing, Operations and General Management resulted, in 2010, from the transformation of the Department of Management Sciences, which was one of the pillars of Iscte-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa since its foundation in 1972, having for almost three decades assumed the supervision of the entire Management teaching area at Iscte and thus the predecessor of the School of Management.
Currently, it covers three major areas of knowledge: Marketing, Operations and General Management. In these areas, it develops an intense teaching activity, with direct responsibility for carrying out bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs within the scope of the School of Management, seeking to contribute to the offer of products that professionally enhance the participants' skills and management skills, through a very strong interaction between the scientific state-of-the-art of the subjects taught and an effective connection to business reality.
Research plays an important role in the Department's set of activities. In this context, multidisciplinary projects, integration into international networks, and a strong appreciation for the application to business reality stand out.
The Department has around 53 teachers, harmoniously combining scientific qualifications (more than 26 doctorates) with guest teachers who perform relevant business-related functions, thus ensuring a more effective university–university connection. company.
