O projeto tem como base de investigação o Parque Florestal de
Monsanto. Esta tese divide-se em dois Tomo.
O Tomo I apresenta o enquadramento teórico do tema, apresentando
diferentes capítulos: a História de Monsanto, cartografia e
mapas que definem vários temas do Parque. O Tomo II é o desenvolvimento
do projeto individual que se encontra na zona de São
Domingos de benfica.
Entre a densidade urbana de São Domingos de Benfica e a natureza
do Parque, ergue-se uma fronteira invisível, marcada pela Radial
de Benfica, a linha férrea e a Rua Conde de Almoster. É neste
limite que se localiza o projeto, tomando a Quinta da Alfarrobeira
como ponto de partida.
A Quinta, vestígio de um passado rural e aristocrático, preserva a
memória quando Lisboa se conectava à natureza. Hoje, cercada
pela cidade, transforma-se num espaço de transição, permitindo à
urbanidade reencontrar a paisagem.
A intervenção propõe reorganizar o quarteirão preservando a
Quinta, enquanto novas edificações atuam como mediadores entre
funções e espaços. O projeto articula a cidade e a serra através de
plataformas estratégicas que vencem a topografia, transformando a
diferença altimétrica em oportunidades de circulação e contemplação.
O projeto atua como um gesto de reconexão, requalificando o
tecido urbano e valorizando o património, transformando barreiras
em continuidade. Cada plataforma convida à descoberta, e cada
percurso estabelece uma ligação entre a cidade e a Serra. A intervenção
reinterpreta a relação entre urbano e natural, permitindo à
cidade tocar a paisagem e redescobrir o seu território.

The project is based on research centered around the Monsanto
Forest Park. This thesis is divided into two volumes.
Volume I presents the theoretical framework of the topic, with different
chapters addressing the History of Monsanto, cartography,
and maps that define various aspects of the Park. Volume II focuses
on the development of the individual architectural project
located in the area of São Domingos de Benfica.
Between the urban density of São Domingos de Benfica and the
natural environment of the Park, an invisible boundary emerges,
marked by the Radial de Benfica, the railway line, and Rua Conde
de Almoster. It is along this edge that the project is situated, taking
the Quinta da Alfarrobeira as its starting point.
The Quinta, a vestige of a rural and aristocratic past, preserves the
memory of a time when Lisbon was connected to nature. Today,
surrounded by the city, it becomes a transitional space, allowing
urban life to reconnect with the landscape.
The intervention proposes to reorganize the urban block while
preserving the Quinta, as new buildings act as mediators between
functions and spaces. The project articulates the city and the hills
through strategic platforms that overcome the topography, turning
elevation differences into opportunities for movement and contemplation.
The project acts as a gesture of reconnection, requalifying the
urban fabric and enhancing heritage, transforming barriers into
continuity. Each platform invites exploration, and each path establishes
a link between the city and the Serra. The intervention
reinterprets the relationship between the urban and the natural, allowing
the city to touch the landscape and rediscover its territory.
