Esta dissertação teve como finalidade estudar o grupo “Portugal” da rede social
Goodreads, enquanto comunidade virtual leitora e utilizadora da Internet e dos novos media.
Procurou-se, através da realização de um inquérito online, saber mais sobre os hábitos de
leitura, as práticas de utilização das TIC, das redes sociais e as práticas culturais dos seus
membros. Para além disso, tentou cruzar-se esta informação de modo a caracterizar os
indivíduos em estudo, recorrendo a literatura sobre as práticas de leitura e a migração destas
para o plano digital.

This dissertation had the purpose of studying the group “Portugal” on the social
network Goodreads, as a reading and Internet and new media user virtual community. Through
an online questionnaire, the aim was to learn more about the reading habits, the ICT’s and social
media using practices, and the cultural habits of the group members. Furthermore, there was an
attempt to cross the information in order to characterize the individuals under study, resorting to
information regarding reading practices and its migration to the digital environment.
