Workshop for Teachers - THE HYBRID ZONE OF TEACHING AND LEARNING

The Iscte Transversal Skills Laboratory and the Iscte Pedagogical Council came together to organize a training entitled: THE HYBRID ZONE OF TEACHING AND LEARNING.

Teaching and learning supported in a hybrid modality gained greater prominence with the pandemic situation, however it is a concept and a practice at least a decade old. There are several terminologies and practices of a hybrid pedagogical approach: mixed teaching, blended learning, flipped learning, blended learning, flexible teaching, flexible learning, technology-based learning, among others.  

Hybrid learning is essentially a way of rethinking and redesigning the relationship between teaching and learning, and not the simple transmission and availability of content through technological means.  

In a hybrid pedagogical design, part of the time (usually face-to-face) is dedicated to active and laboratory, collaborative and meaningful learning activities and deepening and consolidation of knowledge; another part of the time (usually non-face-to-face) is dedicated to expository and demonstrative activities (recorded or in real time), reading resources, viewing of demonstrations or practical components supported by digital tools. 

The purpose of this training is to differentiate and characterize the various terminologies and practices inherent to a hybrid pedagogical model, defining the main objectives: 

- to characterize the concept of hybrid teaching in higher education; 

- know pedagogical designs based on hybrid models; 

- identify learning practices/activity in hybrid learning contexts; 

- know assessment processes for hybrid learning contexts.
