Training for academic integrity: "Fraud in higher education: What is known, and what is believed to be known".
Organised by the Pedagogical Council of Iscte
Date: 13th of May, 2021, at 2:30 PM
The webinar is available for viewing here
Speaker: Madalena Ramos, Associate Professor at ESPP - Iscte
Open to the Iscte community, this webinar's main objective was to promote academic integrity.
The main results of a questionnaire survey conducted among Iscte students were presented, focusing on their perceptions and practices regarding fraud in an academic context.
The results of this survey show that it is not always clear what constitutes (or does not) constitute academic fraud. Among the various types of fraud, plagiarism is the one that raises the most doubts and can give rise to unintentional fraud motivated by a lack of knowledge. Therefore, the aim of this seminar, in addition to presenting the study's results, is to clarify what constitutes academic fraud, with particular emphasis on plagiarism. The institutional framework for academic fraud will also be addressed, as it is unknown to many of those involved (students and teachers).
