A presente dissertação insere-se no âmbito do Mestrado em Serviço Social no Iscte-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa e intitula-se “Assistentes Sociais e Políticas Sociais", tendo como objetivo entender de que forma é que os assistentes sociais intervêm e são influenciados através das políticas sociais Entende-se a pertinência do tema, uma vez que, na sua prática quotidiana, o assistente social é desafiado pelas sucessivas transformações sociais e a relação a entre a intervenção profissionais e as políticas sociais é intrínseca e constante. Optou-se por uma metodologia mista (quantitativa e qualitativa), com recolhas de dados através de entrevistas exploratórias e inquérito por questionário, com uma escala de Lickert realizado online a assistentes sociais. Os resultados obtidos permitiram confirmar que há, sempre houve e haverá influência das políticas sociais na intervenção do assistente social, sendo por isso imperativo o envolvimento do Serviço Social na sua conceção, em colaboração com outras áreas disciplinares.

This dissertation is part of the Master's Degree in Social Work at the Iscte-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa and is entitled "Social Workers and Social Policies", with the aim of understanding how social workers intervene and are influenced by social policies.
The relevance of the topic is understood, since, in their daily practice, social workers are challenged by successive social transformations and the relationship between professional intervention and social policies is intrinsic and constant.
We chose a mixed methodology (quantitative and qualitative), with data collection through exploratory interviews and questionnaire survey with a five-point Lickert Scale, conducted online to social workers.
The results obtained allowed us to confirm that there is, always has been, and always will be influence of social policies in the intervention of the social worker, and therefore it is imperative that Social Work is involved in their conception, in collaboration with other disciplinary areas.
