Como ponto de partida, o processo de conceção do programa
para uma biblioteca iniciou-se com um levantamento coletivo
do local, e a elaboração, em turma, de uma coletânea de casos
de estudo de bibliotecas pelo mundo. Numa fase posterior,
de desenvolvimento individual, o programa é explorado em
profundidade, compreendendo as suas origens e transformações,
reinterpretando-as à luz das intenções pessoais pretendidas.
A escala e o carácter do terreno conduziram à ideia de um jardim
que abraça o projeto, cujas linhas e volumetria emergem da análise
de obras de referência e do diálogo com a paisagem.
A interpretação e reflexão em torno do projeto como obra de
arte total delineou as intenções e objetivos da intervenção,
pretendendo criar uma única peça arquitetónica capaz de fundir
as conceções de função e forma.
Mais do que a busca por um resultado final, esta dissertação
constitui uma narrativa de processo, um percurso pelas
inquietações, descobertas e questões que regem o pensamento
do projeto, levantando uma discussão.

As a starting point, the process of designing the program for a library
began with a collective study of the site and the class working
together to compile a collection of case studies of libraries around
the world. In a later phase of individual development, the program is
explored in depth, understanding its origins and transformations,
reinterpreting them in light of personal intentions.
The scale and character of the site led to the idea of a garden that
embraces the project, whose lines and volume emerge from the
analysis of reference works and dialogue with the landscape.
The interpretation and reflection on the project as a total artwork
outlined the intentions and objectives of the intervention,
intending to create a single architectural piece capable of merging
the concepts of function and form.
More than the search for a final result, this dissertation is a narrative
of process, a journey through the concerns, discoveries, and
questions that guided the project’s thinking, leading to a debate.
