Este estudo investiga os processos adaptativos, aculturação e idadismo dentro do fenômeno da
migração, busca-se compreender como que os imigrantes brasileiros na Escócia vivenciam barreiras
e facilitadores na imigração, como se aculturam e como observam o próprio processo de
envelhecimento.
Trata-se de uma investigação qualitativa, na qual foram realizadas 17 entrevistas semiestruturadas
com brasileiros, imigrantes domiciliados na Escócia e com idades compreendidas entre 34 e 56 anos.
As entrevistas foram transcritas na integra e submetidas à uma análise de conteúdo temática. No
estudo, foi obtido 5 temas e 22 subtemas. Os resultados concluem que os imigrantes brasileiros em
terras escocesas utilizam da estratégia de Integração nos processos de aculturação, e possuem maior
prevalência de apresentarem no seu discurso o idadismo subtil.
Esta investigação pretende colocar em voga a importância de estudar sobre esses dois fenômenos em
conjunto e propor uma análise mais profunda sobre o tema, salientando a ausência de estudos
suficientes para abranger tais temáticas que são de grande importância na Psicologia Social.

This study investigates adaptive processes, acculturation, and ageism within the phenomenon of
migration. It seeks to understand how Brazilian immigrants in Scotland experience barriers and
facilitators in immigration, how they acculturate, and how they perceive their own aging process.
This is a qualitative investigation in which 17 semi-structured biographical interviews were
conducted with Brazilians who reside in Scotland and are aged between 34 and 56 years. The
interviews were transcribed in full and subjected to thematic content analysis using MAXQDA
software. The study identified 5 themes and 22 subthemes. The results conclude that Brazilian
immigrants in Scotland employ an Integration strategy in their acculturation processes and tend to
exhibit subtle ageism in their discourse. This investigation aims to highlight the importance of
studying these two phenomena together and to propose a more in-depth analysis of the topic,
emphasizing the lack of sufficient studies to cover these themes, which are of great significance in
Social Psychology.
