Como ponto de partida desta investigação,
foi-nos introduzido o programa do REVIVE, que tem
como conceito a reabilitação de antigas estruturas
portuguesas importantes para a história e cultura do
país. A investigação centra-se na 7ª bateria do Outão,
situada perto de Setúbal, na Serra da Arrábida. Esta
inicía-se com um olhar sobre a história da bateria
e a sua utilidade ao decorrer dos anos. A onalidade
desta intervenção visa responder à necessidade de
proporcionar uma nova utilidade da bateria, e à criação
de um espaço para o uso público.
Através desta intervenção é pretendido a
resolução do programa hoteleiro, de restauração e
de banhos públicos, como também enaltecer a serra
envolvente, criando uma ligação entre a natureza e as
ruínas existentes no local.
O projeto tem como base o desenho sobre a
plataforma existente, criando dois braços que delimitam
um jardim central integrando a extensão verde da Serra.
Pretendendo resolver também a ligação com o forte
velho existente que se encontra desapegado da sua
envolvente.

As a starting point for this research, we were
introduced to the REVIVE programme, the concept
behind which is the rehabilitation of old Portuguese
structures that are important to the country9s history
and culture. The research centers on the 7th battery of
Outão, located near Setúbal in the Serra da Arrábida. It
begins with a look at the history of the battery and its
usefulness over the years. The aim of this intervention
is to respond to the need to provide a new use for the
battery, and to create a space for public use.
This intervention is intended to resolve the
hotel, restaurant and public bathing programme, as
well as to enhance the surrounding landscape, creating
a connection between nature and the ruins existing on
the site.
The project is based on the design of the
existing platform, creating two arms that design a
central garden that integrates the green extension of
the mountain, which also aims to resolve the connection
with the existing old fort that is detached from its
surroundings.
