fornecendo-lhes estruturas e recursos que permitam a sua participação ativa em todas as áreas.
Ainda não é o ideal, mas a cidade de Setúbal tem feito um esforço para melhorar os recursos.
Ao longo dos anos tem vindo a ser estudada a forma como as crianças com deficiência
aprendem e a importância das atividades culturais para o seu desenvolvimento.
Este estudo teve como objetivo perceber a importância das atividades culturais para
crianças com deficiência, utilizando como caso de estudo a ação desenvolvida pela Câmara
Municipal de Setúbal. Considerando as iniciativas e as práticas que foram possíveis identificar
e descrever, procurou-se, desta forma, definir o lugar que a CMS atribui a esta questão, ou seja,
o acesso de crianças com deficiência a atividades culturais. Por outro lado, procurou-se
igualmente a importância que estas atividades culturais têm na vida das crianças com
deficiência. Para tal, foi realizada uma investigação baseada em entrevistas exploratórias e
inquéritos por questionário, que permitiram perceber que as atividades culturais são importantes
para estas crianças e que a CMS tem vindo a fazer esforços para que todos os cidadãos usufruam
do seu direito pleno de cidadania, participando e usufruindo das atividades culturais.

Nowadays, there is an increasing talk about the importance of including all of the citiziens by
providing them structures and resources that allow their active participation in all areas. It’s
still not ideal, but the city of Setúbal has made an effort to improve these resources.
Over the years, the way that children with disabilities learn and the importance of cultural
activities for their development have been studied.
This study aimed to understand the importance of cultural activities for children with
disabilities, using as a case study the action developed by the Municipality of Setúbal.
Considering the initiatives and practices that were possible to identify and describe, we sought,
in this way, to define the place that the CMS attributes to this issue, that is, the access of children
with disabilities to cultural activities. On the other hand, the importance that these cultural
activities have in the lives of children with disabilities. To this end, an investigation was carried
out based on exploratory interviews and questions surveys, which allowed us to realize that
cultural activities are important for these children and that the CMS has been making efforts so
that all citizens enjoy their full right to citizenship, participating in and enjoying cultural
activities.
