O objetivo deste estudo passa pela compreensão do papel da CGTP-IN no espaço do Sindicalismo português e no quadro das principais mudanças políticas e sociais na União Europeia no período desde 1986, data da adesão de Portugal à Comunidade Económica Europeia, até ao ano 2000, data da entrada em vigor da União Monetária Europeia.
Será analisada a influência da Europeização e da Globalização, no quadro da problemática laboral, exercida sobre esta central sindical e sobre o Sindicalismo português em geral.

This dissertation aims to understand how the Portuguese trade unionism was built after the 25 April Revolution, in the middle of a democratization process. This study will also consider the weakening of CGTP-IN trade unionism, credited to European integration, and the reasons for this weakening. What kind of influences did it received from trade unionism in Europe and the Globalization, and how was it able to shape the Portuguese trade unionism movement. The selected period of time for this work goes from 1986, the year of the Portuguese adhesion to the European Union, until the year 2000, when the Monetary Union was established within the European Community.
