As perceções sociais sobre os riscos têm vindo a ser abordadas pelas diferentes áreas das ciências sociais. Partindo do ponto de vista da Sociologia, este estudo de carater exploratório e preliminar, analisa as perceções sobre os riscos por parte dos elementos da Força Especial de Bombeiros (FEB). Terão estes elementos as mesmas perceções do que as do público em geral? Ou será que dada a especificidade do seu contexto profissional e formativo, as suas perceções sobre os riscos são diferentes? Serão elas afetadas pelos mesmos fatores (sociográficos, media, entidades de controlo e gestão) que afetam as perceções dos cidadãos de modo geral?
A recolha dos dados foi efetuada a partir de um inquérito por questionário online (LimeSurvey®) e o tratamento estatístico elaborado com recurso ao software SPSS®. Os resultados revelaram que as perceções sobre os riscos dos elementos da FEB em estudo estão associadas a uma maior familiaridade com os riscos mistos (incêndios florestais e acidentes de poluição) e à atribuição de um grau de preparação mais elevado aos agentes de proteção civil para atuar em caso de ocorrência de riscos. Verifica-se, ainda, que as suas perceções não tendem a alterar-se mesmo quando aos riscos estão associados benefícios. Ao contrário do que a literatura aponta, relativamente à análise das perceções sobre os riscos entre os leigos, neste caso, quanto maior é a confiança nos peritos maior tende a ser a preocupação com as consequências dos riscos no futuro.

The social perceptions about risks have been addressed by different areas of the social sciences. From the sociology point of view, this study of preliminary and exploratory character analyzes the perceptions of risks on part of the elements of Força Especial de Bombeiros (FEB). Do these elements have the same perceptions of the general public? Or is that given the specific context of their professional training, their perceptions of the risks are different? Will they be affected by the same factors (sociographics, media, management and control entities) that affect the perceptions of citizens in general?
Data collection was conducted from an online survey (LimeSurvey ®) and statistical prepared using the SPSS® software. The results revealed that perceptions about the risks of the elements of FEB in study are associated with a greater familiarity with the mixed risks (forest fires and pollution accidents) and the assignment of a higher degree of readiness to civil protection agents to act in the event of hazards. It´s also verified that their perceptions are not likely to change even when risks are associated with benefits. Contrary to what literature suggests, relatively to the analysis of perceptions about risks among the laity, in this case, the greater the reliance on experts is, greater is the concern with the consequences of the risks in the future.
