Na sua ainda curta história, as redes sociais na Internet têm vindo a assumir um papel cada vez mais relevante na vida dos jovens. Ocupam espaço da sua actividade social, prolongam esse espaço.
Mais recentemente têm sido o palco eleito para levar avante protestos que, em alguns casos, conduziram ao fim de regimes autocráticos com décadas na chamada Primavera Árabe.
Neste trabalho propomo-nos a analisar a relação entre jovens e Internet, procurando entender as novas práticas de cidadania nas redes sociais online que se estão a desenvolver.

In their still short history, the Internet’s social networks have been assuming an ever increasing role in the lives of youths. They take the space of their social activity, and extend that same space.
Recently, they have set the stage for protests that, in some cases, have lead to the end of autocratical regimes, with decades of existence, in the so-called Arab Spring.
In this dissertation we propose to analyze the relationship between youths and the Internet, seeking to understand the new citizenship practices in the online social networks that are currently developing.
